Advancing Peer Support Programming to Address PTSD and Trauma Among Canadian Public Safety Personnel and Veterans
The Advancing Peer Support Programming project will provide a coordinated national approach to peer support for public safety personnel, enable evidence-based improvements and standardization, and ultimately lead to independent nationally recognized accreditations. Working as a Public Safety Personnel (PSP) is a demanding occupation. Support isn’t just important on the job. Having a support network in your personal life can promote well-being and recovery from mental health challenges.
The Peer Support: Stream 3 project has designed an interactive tool is to help PSP and their families search for, compare, and find support that fits their needs, no matter where they are in the country. The online directory can be filtered by service type, cost, delivery method, and more. It can often be difficult to navigate the mental wellbeing resources available for PSP — we hope you find this new site easier to use than ever before.
Together, we can work to break the stigma surrounding seeking help for mental health challenges.

Lessons Learned
“The reason why this online repository was created is because often, many times, PSP don’t know where to turn when they have mental health issues.”
Hear from Beth Millard and Bob Chrismas about the lessons that Advancing Peer Support Programming: Online Repository learned.
Project Updates
In March 2023, the Online Repository project concluded when their objectives were met. The data was thoroughly reviewed and updated, additionally, the website was refreshed with a new look and feel. If organizations would like their resources listed on the website, or if existing organizations need to update their information there is an online form that can be filled out. The form is directed to CIPSRT staff for review, and if approved, the website is updated.
